TERM 2 WEEK 6 NEWSLETTER

Dear Parents/Caregivers,

Yesterday we held our Parent/Teacher meetings in the Multi-Purpose Room. I would like to thank the staff for their commitment to these meetings and keeping you informed about your child/Children’s progress. Thanks also to all the families who continue to support our students’ progress and the school’s processes. I was extremely disappointed with the number of families who did not make the effort to attend this important, informative meeting regarding their child’s education. I strongly believe the most important thing a family can give their child, after love and care, ia an education. Please prioritise your child’s education highly, where it belongs. Semester 1 reports will be sent out in Week 10.

I would like to remind you that next Tuesday, 7th June is a Pupil free Day.

Monsignor Paul Boyers is quite unwell at the moment and had to be flown to Perth with RFDS on Tuesday. Please keep Monsignor Paul in your prayers and let’s all pray for his rapid and full recovery.

Miss Chloe Beckett and her family will be leaving Holy Rosary School and Derby at the end of the week. They are relocating in Port Hedland. I would like to thank Miss Chloe for the enormous contribution she has made to our school over the past 12 years and I would like to wish her and her family all the best for the future.

Starting Friday, 3rd June, we will be holding our weekly Friday Fresh Markets at the assembly. We hope to hold them each week but it will depend on the availability of the produce in the garden. This week we have eggs, worm juice, cucumbers and bok choy (maybe). Please support our Green Team to make our garden centre sustainable by purchasing our produce. Please remember to bring along some cash.

Eggs – $5/dozen                        Worm Juice – $2 for 2litres                Vegetables – $1

Dear Parents/Caregivers,

Yesterday we celebrated Founder’s Day with a variety of activities. Founder’s Day is to celebrate the St John of God Sisters who started Holy Rosary School in 1954. The day started with a beautiful liturgy in the undercover area. We had some of our old foundation students and our first lay principal, Tony Treacy, talk to the students about what Holy Rosary was like in the old days. I would like to thank Miss Jocelyn, Miss Alis and the Aboriginal Teaching Assistants for their wonderful organization of a great day of celebration.

Last Friday we held a very successful Faction Swimming Carnival. All the students who attended and participated were winners. The swimming faction winner was La Salle followed by Johns and Pallotti. Congratulations to all the individual champions and runner up champions. Thanks to the staff and especially Mr Kayde for a well organised, well run fun day.

I would like to remind everyone about our Busy Bee on Saturday 26th March from 8:00am – 11:00am to set up our Community Garden and clean up the school grounds. Please bring along gardening tools and wheelbarrows. It will be followed by a sausage sizzle.

Next Thursday 17th March we will be celebrating St Patrick’s Day with a fundraiser for Caritas. More information will be coming home in the near future.

Dear Parents/Caregivers,

This weekend is a long weekend, Labour Day, and Tuesday 8th March is a Pupil Free Day. The staff will be engaged in professional learning so please don’t send your children to school on Tuesday.

Tomorrow is our Faction Swimming Carnival at the Derby Memorial Swimming Pool. You have received a note, from Mr Kayde, detailing everything you need to know to prepare your child for the day. You are invited to join us and support your child and the school.

As you are aware mask wearing for Year 3-6 students has been mandated and is effective from today, Thursday 3rd March. Face mask wearing is an additional physical barrier to COVID-19 to protect you, your child and our community.

Thank you to all the parents who are supporting our Healthy Eating Policy and the elimination of single use plastic. I have noticed an improvement in the contents of many of our student’s lunchboxes. Please refer to the Parent Handbook for the recommended food list.

On Saturday 26th March we will be holding a Busy Bee to set up our Community Garden. It will start at 8:00am and finish at 11:00am with a sausage sizzle. I hope you can give up an hour or two to help us set up our garden.
