Book Week 2021 and Dads’ Reading Challenge!
It was great to see all our kids dressed up to celebrate literacy and reading for Book Week 2021, as well as so many dads turn up for the Dads’ Reading Challenge!
Sally Murphy Author visit
To start off Book Week we had author Sally Murphy talk to our kids on Monday afternoon about the writing process, the importance of enjoying reading and how she comes up with her amazing stories!! Thank you for an inspirational visit Sally and and Kate from Derby library for organising!
Athletics House Carnival 2021
Holy Rosary smashed out another awesome athletics carnival recently with all the respect, resilience and good sportsmanship we all have come to expect from our kids! Thank you to Mr Kayde, Winun Ngari Aboriginal Corporation for the sausage sizzle, and to all our staff, parent helpers and everyone who attended to make it such a great day! We were so lucky to be enjoying a sports carnival with our friends and families under sunny blue skies here in Derby while our Eastern states friends are locked down 🙏 We wish all our students good luck as they compete at the Interschool Carnival this Friday.
2022 Classlists, Staffing and enrolments
We are currently organising our staffing and classes for 2022. We were very excited to reach 150 total student enrolment last Friday, the biggest the school has been in many years, and a net increase of 45 students since January 2020! Congratulations to the staff team who are obviously keeping the community happy with their commitment to our students’ wellbeing and educational outcomes.
Due to these healthy numbers we will be offering straight year levels in 2022 for every year group (eg Kindy, PP, Year 1, Year 2 etc…) except for a combined Year 5/6 class.
Our 4 Year old kindy next year will run 4 days a week, on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. There is an option to attend 3 days.
If your child turns 4 before June 30th 2022 and you wish to enrol your child in 4 Year old kindy for 2022, please submit an enrolment application soon as there are only a few places left and it will soon be full.
In the coming weeks, CEWA staff will be visiting the school to consult with the staff and the School Board about recruiting for a new principal for 2022, and a timeline for this to take place will be sent out by CEWA soon. In Week 10 I will be going to Perth to interview teachers for 2022. We look forward to announcing our staff and teachers for 2022 in early Term 3!
