Virtue of the Fortnight : Loyalty
God of wisdom,
We thank you
for all the gifts you have given us throughout this school semester.
We praise you for giving us life,
for saving us in Christ,
and for choosing us to be your people.
As we come to the end of this school semester, we voice our gratitude
for the good things you have done in us, and we praise you for all who have shared in the work of this school.
We ask you to bless them in your love and give them refreshment and peace. We praise you, God,
through Jesus Christ, our Lord,
who lives and reigns forever and ever. Amen.
NAIDOC Celebrations
On Monday our students leaders lead the opening ceremony celebrating the start of Naidoc week celebrations at Holy Rosary. We also got the opportunity to say thank you to Winun Ngari Aboriginal Corporation for the fantastic bike path they built for our school. Thank you to Siann Edwards for her Nyikina Welcome to Country, as well as our amazing ATA team: Miss Lesley, Miss Tanika, Miss Teki, Miss Catie, Miss Kylie and Miss Kellie who spend so much time and care planning fun and engaging activities each year for our kids for Naidoc Week β€οΈππ€
Our Year 4/5s also visited Cuttings Monday to start Naidoc week. Thank you Miss Giorgia, Miss Teki, Miss Tanika, Tony Garlett and Daniel Ginbey from Derby Police Station, and again to Winun Ngari Aboriginal Corporation and the team for providing this amazing learning experience!
Staff Changes
We are very sad to announce that Miss Natalie has resigned to take up a full time position at Home and Community Care Aged Care hostel. She has been an incredible and loved staff member in the 22 years she has spent at Holy Rosary, providing administrative support in the library and in the front office. Her calm and caring presence is felt all around the school, as well as her dedication to the school and willingness to go above and beyond for the best outcomes for our kids. We did do our best to try to convince her to stay or extend her days with us, but HACC has obviously seen her value and lured her over there, and they are very lucky to have her!! Bye Miss Natalie and we hope you visit us often!!
We also said goodbye this week to Miss Andrea, who in her 6 months here has managed to make an immense difference to the kids in her class. Her experience and wisdom has been great for our early career teachers to learn from and be inspired by and she has made a huge impact on not only our students but her colleagues. Once again we tried our best to entice her to stay, we managed to keep her for an extra term, which she agreed to purely because she felt that would be the best thing for her class. Goodbye Miss Andrea, we will miss you and we hope you have a wonderful next chapter of your life in your renovated house in Dunsborough.
Catholic School Parents WA Conference Delegates
We have been very lucky to have received a LotteryWest grant to pay for 2 of our parents to attend the Catholic School Parents State Conference and Dinner at Crown Resort in August. 2 members of our P&F have taken up this well-deserved opportunity, Lisa Russ and Deanella Purdie, for their time and commitment given to the school this year. We also have nominated a number of parents this year for the CSPWA Parent award of excellence, which has the following criteria:
- works collaboratively with the Principal, staff and other parents
- actively works for the benefit of the school, its parents and students
- promotes and affirms the work of the school in the education of the children
- creates opportunities in the school to build community
So many of our parents are deserving of this award, but we have nominated these stand out parents to express our appreciation for their commitment to creating opportunities for our kids :
Dee Dee Purdie – P&F Treasurer and Boab Quest Entrant for Holy Rosary
Lisa Russ β P&F Secretary
Leah Hart β previous P & F president and Board Member
Sally Courtney β Board Chair
Ash Bin Omar β Board Member
Boab Quest Entrant : Deanella Purdie
We would like to also make special mention of Dee Dee Purdie who has dedicated all her spare time and energy of the last few weeks to raising funds for Holy Rosary through holding a mini-fete, Friday night events at the Sporties, and other activities, and has so far raised over $7000. This is an amazing feat and we wish her all the best for the Boab Festival this weekend!!
